Designed for tractors with an independent 540 RPM PTO shaft in the 35–80 HP range. Independent PTO and ground speeds let the operator dial in the ideal draw speed for smooth, controlled grinding.
A unique shock assembly dampens impact and applies even, consistent pressure through every stump — preventing kickback and delivering smoother, more controlled cuts than any base-model stump grinder.
A built-in visual indicator lets the operator see the angle of the stump grinder from the seat of the tractor, so it's easy to maintain the optimal working range for tractor draw speed.
A large 28" (71 cm) solid-steel grinding flywheel with 44 tungsten carbide teeth laid out in a sequential cutting pattern for smooth, powerful cuts through hard and soft wood alike.
3-point quick-attach hitch with both Category 1 and Category 2 holes and pins to accommodate a wide range of tractors and horsepower ratings. Cat 1 is quick-hitch compatible.
Adjustable nylon slides fit various chainsaw bar widths, giving you a secure place to transport your saw around the property and stow it safely between stumps.
The chain-equipped chip deflector keeps chips close to the work area — dramatically easier clean-up on lawns, driveways and finished landscaping.
Includes a Series 7 twin-plate slip-clutch PTO shaft that protects your tractor's driveline from shock loads if the flywheel bites into buried debris.

I borrowed a neighbor’s WG24 to try it out. I thought it was great. Decided to spend the extra and go with the WG28. Wow! I’m glad I did! Substantially beefier than the little brother. On my 55hp Branson, it handles well. I can tell that I could put a lot more HP to it if I wanted to. It’s a game changer for cleaning up after felling trees. My only regret is not buying it sooner. My project was to remove 8 trees (about 6 to 10" in diameter from a bank above my driveway. The goal was to taper the bank so that I could plant grass and put a mower on it. I needed a grinder that would go deep enough so that I could remove about 21/2 feet of dirt below the stump. The grinder did a great job. I had to go back after I removed some of the top dirt to make a second cut on some of the deeper roots. The grinder worked well with my 46 HP Kubota tractor, I am very pleased with my purchase. My one small complaint is the PTO coupler release button is difficult to use with gloves on.

I have used this on small and large stumps ranging from cedar to oak. The grinder has worked well on everything so far. The larger the stump and harder the species, you need common sense to dictate how aggressive you can be. I'm using a 4066r John Deere with roughly 54hp at the PTO. I feel the tractor and grinder are very compatible.
