The HM122 Bushlander Overview
Product Features
Built To Roll & Mill

The Bushlander trailer takes the HM122 wherever the logs are. Purpose-built for rough terrain with ATV-style tires — pull it into the bush with a truck, quad, or tractor and mill on-site.
Patented Folding Extension
Fold the trailer extension out to mill logs up to 16' 9", then fold it back for a compact, road-ready footprint. Setup takes minutes, no tools required.
Dependable Kohler Power
Choose the 7 HP or 9.5 HP Kohler 4-cycle engine. Slant-cylinder design, cast-iron cylinder bore, Quad-Clean™ 4-stage air filtration and industrial centrifugal clutch — backed by a 3-year Kohler commercial warranty.

Reinforced 4-post head with back beam and welded tubular crossbeam anchored between laser-cut carriage side plates for exceptional rigidity and dead-accurate cuts.
Patented Gas & Go Auto Lube
Aluminum 10 L lubricant tank feeds the patented auto-lube system so every cut stays cool and clean — no stopping mid-log to spray the blade.

Love my HM122!!
I bought an HM122 sawmill/trailer combo after watching a few videos detailing Woodland Mills machines. My biggest takeaway from the videos was that WM had fantastic customer service. I was also very impressed with some of their design choices on the mill that I liked. After ordering the machine, it came quickly and I got to work assembling it. I was missing one nut, and one of the latches was bent. I had a similar nut in stock in my shop, but I called WM and the immediately answered, we exchanged part numbers and they sent the new parts right away. I got to experience the WM fantastic customer support first hand and I am so glad that I chose them! I love the HM122 so far and can't wait to cut more wood this summer!

Good quality sawmill
I had a great time putting the sawmill and trailer together. Took my time and got it together slow. Good indoor winter project. Old guy Lego. lol found a log that fell off a log truck, brought it home and milled my first log in the driveway! Going to be bringing it up to my cabin soon while the roads are still ice roads. Then we will be putting it to the test milling boards for the interior walls on my cabin.

Love my HM122 Bushlander
I have only milled a few logs, but if the next hundred are like the first couple I can't wait. The mill has performed better than I could have expected. The mills design, material and construction are incredible, very well designed and build. Look forward to seeing what treasures come to life when milling my next log. I can't wait to take it back the camp and mill spruce for an addition to the camp. Thanks Woodland

This machine is incredible, and even better than that is the Customer Service provided by Woodland Mills. One of our boxes got lost in transit, not critical, but necessary. Woodland Mills didn't hesitate, they shipped the item immediately. The Mill is so smooth and easy to operate, it's also much cleaner than we expected it to be, based on non-Woodland Mills equipment. We have ours standing in or near our retail are so that customers can see the mill and understand the story that goes with their purchase. The Bushlander has proved to be the workhorse around our shop, and it has increased our productivity greatly. BIG Thanks to Woodland Mills and their staff!!! Best in the business.

Perfect retirement plan
Ordered my mill to add milling to my crafting experience. I have a 26 acre farm full of trees several of which needed to come down. They are nervous now. Woodland mills service is amazing, I was missing a spring on the throttle governor. A couple of e-mails back and forth to figure the one I needed and it showed up quickly. On my second blade, broke 1sr until I realized I set the tension wrong. working on 8th Cedar tree, getting ready to build a table. Love my mill, love Woodland Mills.

Best lumber cutting investment
Lost my leg in Afghanistan just below the hip in 2010, and I attribute my recovery and successes to keeping active and staying fit both physically and mentally through all the challenges that this life has to offer. The bushlander HM122 was a great purchase and has been an amazing addition to our hobby farm. Providing great effective results, the cost reductions on lumber purchase alone has already paid for itself. The instructions were easy to follow as I took the week to put it together from the crates, there are lots of illustrations and videos available…So If a one legged, one-armed ex military soldier can assemble, build and operate this equipment from a wheelchair in the middle of nowhere, somewhere in our remote Canadian wilderness…anyone can. I particularly like the versatility of this model where I can tow it or park it as I like and it doesn’t take long to either level, or to prepare for transport. Things to improve: throttle lever mounting block needs more solid metal, I drilled a pin through the arm creating a more sturdy and static throttle lever. For the average user: don’t forget to check your bolts for tightness, especially the tension arm for the belt/drive. Thank you Woodland Mills team for making a great product. Where do I share a photo?

Better than expected
I have had the bushlander for a few months now. Only issues I have had are being inexperienced and trying to cut to fast. For a small portable mill you couldn’t ask for a better setup that goes where it is needed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this mill to anyone. I love it.

The start of a journey!
My Bushlander XL has been a great experience right from the beginning. It was well packed and arrived in a timely fashion. When I first opened the boxes I felt a little overwhelmed but that quickly passed when I opened the instructions manual. This is a very comprehensive page by page manual that easily takes you through the journey of building your new sawmill. This had to be one of the best written manuals I have ever used, covering everything in detail, and leaving nothing out. Just start at the beginning and don’t try skipping ahead. I love the ability to take my mill to my bush lot and can easily store it in a bay of my garage when not in use until I build my saw shed. Great product…great experience and start of a journey! One other thing is the great family of mill owners who are always ready to show tricks and methods to get it done! Thx to everyone! Steve

My Bushlander
I really enjoy my HM122, easy to run, cuts great and saves me a lot of money milling my own boards compared to buying them. A friend of mine owns a tree company and gives me the logs. Soft woods and hardwoods. Switching over blades is easy also. This mill is great for someone like me who builds his own stuff and makes things to sell also. I recommend this to a first time buyer and user that’s a homeowner. Very happy with my mill!!

Very good saw!
Putting the saw together was a little difficult because some of the listed hard wear was already on the saw and not in the packages. This caused confusion at first. Also when you combine the trailer and the saw mill instructions together and have to flip back and forth that is a little hectic. In the end I only had one bolt missing! After using the saw for about 5 hours it is working wonderful. But the belts are beginning to shred. I am afraid it is from over tightening. I am having difficulty with the 2.5 to 3 turn method. I like EXACT directions and I am a little unsure of when to start counting the turns from. Those are the ONLY complaints. This saw is AMAZING! It has been wonderful to use! I absolutely love it!!!

Happy Customer
This mill is perfect for what I need. It can mill a 20” diameter log, which is as big of log I care to handle. With the additional purchase of the Loglander20, I can harvest and mill logs without having to load them on a trailer. The HM122 Bushlander also comes with adjustable feet if you decide to commit to a more permanent site. The only thing I would change is the screw style log clamp as it leaves a good sized depression in the wood.

Post Hurricane “Making Lemonade out of Lemons”
My forest property in Florida suffered major damage from hurricane Idalia. With 70% of my 39-year-old trees on the ground or leaning, I bought the sawmill to salvage what I can. It was a reasonable investment and has already paid for itself rebuilding my barn. It was very easy to put together and simple to run.

HM122 Bushlander
In Sept 2023 I purchased the HM122 Bushlander 9.5 HP sawmill with lap siding attachment and I have been more than satisfied with my purchase. I have about 40 hours on the sawmill and can say that it is well designed and functions as it should. I now have several hundred feet of maple drying in my garage. Every available spot in the barn is now stacked with white oak, red oak, elm and even some cherry. I also have an 8’ x 5’ x 4’ pile of stacked and stickered lumber drying next to my barn. Last week I stumbled on and milled some spalted maple that will make amazing table tops. I am fortunate in that all the lumber has been sourced locally and it has all been free. I am absolutely satisfied with my Woodland Mills sawmill and would buy it again. I have never posted a product review but feel I should pay it forward, as product reviews steered me to the HM122. This was a large commitment both in cost and size/space occupied by the sawmill. I would provide the following advice for those considering a HM122 sawmill. 1. Watch Youtube assembly videos; they are an exceptional source of information. 2. Be organized (everything is in labeled bags – but there are NUMEROUS bags). 3. Be prepared - It takes time to put the sawmill together (about 12 hours for me and a few more for the lap siding attachment). 4. One person can assemble the sawmill (I did) but helping hands would be a huge benefit – especially setting the mill on the tracks. I don’t have a tractor/front loader. I bought the HM122 and Bushlander trailer, and used a beam in my garage and chain fall to hoist and lower the mill onto the rails/trailer. Thanks Woodland Mills for a great product.

Going Back
I worked at several sawmills back in the day. Now that I am retired, I decided that I would like try my hand at milling some boards. I did some research and picked the Woodland Mills hm122. It was pretty straightforward to assemble. It is a learning curve using the mill. The mill is well built and of good quality. My brother-in-law says he will the lumber I make on his farm. HM 122 Bushlander Maxed out.
My son had purchased the HM 126 and we set it up at my property before moving it to his property.I had the opportunity to use it while it was here.Once it was gone I missed milling. My wife encouraged me to purchase one for our property. I visited the Woodlands showroom in Port Perry to see all the mills setup.I decided on the HM 122 Bushlander after talking to the most helpful staff and technicians. I wanted a mill I could take to the timber in the bush as well as have it setup at home.I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase although I haven’t used it as much as I did the 126 of my son’s. I was able to make a book matched pine table and 2 book matched benches. Also replace the planking on 2 bridges over the creeks for ATV access.

5 stars all around
I purchased the HM122 Bushlander in May of 2023. I have a lot of small softwood trees on my property and nothing large at all, so after research it seemed to be the correct size mill for me. Took me 3 to 4 days to assemble, I'm definitely on the lower end of the "handy" scale but I found the directions well detailed and easy to follow. Product is very well engineered with high quality all around. Levelling and set up does take some time if you aren't on a hard surface such as concrete. Easy to use, I'm a hobby user so I haven't milled a huge amount of wood yet. Had a problem with blades jumping off, customer service (Morgan) was very helpful and knowledgeable. Very impressed with this company and their product line, I would recommend any of their products to friends / family!

HM122 - Awesome machine
The 122 is an amazing sawmill! Assembly was a breeze with easy to follow instructions and making the first cuts was incredible fun. I’ve got over 10 hours on it to date since receiving in late June 2023. Weather and visitors to my cottage slowed down my milling or there would be 3 times the usage! Highly recommend this sawmill to anyone looking to get into milling. First project was the sawmill shed.

Bushlander for mobility
I love that it is easy move this small mill wherever I need it on my property. I don’t have any heavy equipment, just an ATV and the Loglander log arch. I use the log loader winch/ramps on the mill to roll the logs in place after I place them parallel to the mill using the loglander. I would like to get a tractor to make moving logs easier but this is working out quite well.

So far so good.
I haven’t cut with my HM122 yet, as it’s been pretty cold in northern Alaska, that being said, I’m still in the assembly stage as I ordered all the attachments ( lap siding, band guide and trailer, it is definitely very well made! Was missing some of the bolts but was able to find what I needed in my bolt stash. I’ve cut with a few other brands and I’m pleased to say the quality of this mill is top notch, can’t go wrong with one of these!

Bushlander HM122 is much more than "Entry Level"
I read everything I could find on sawmills for 6 months before making this purchase. For starters, WM being a Canadian company was important, given the situation we are living with now. What I wanted was a mill that would easily handle smaller logs, since I dont have a tractor. I purchased the winch/ramp loading option and it has worked well for the maximum 22" black walnut I cut. Two of the logs needed to be rough cut with my chainsaw mill to make it fit so I can still cut the occassional larger log. This was a great purchase for me and I like dealing with the Company.

Helluva machine. Fun to put together, and even more fun to use. It has held up really well so far with my only critique being that my blade guard doesn’t work terribly well as the thumb screw holding it in place snapped off. Very happy with my purchase.

sawmill is great shipping sucks
as recorded with company, my sawmill was lost, or not shipped, anyway it was way late and woodland mills gave me a 100 credit for the delay, then it arrived box heavly damaged, but mill was saved by the metal cage they sent it in, the saw works like a champ once you get it togheter, I milled over 30 logs in a 7 day period, for 1 person I say its great, customer service saves this company over bad shipping choices, tech service guys are great, thats why I have spent 10,000 here for everything from stump grinders to sawmills

This is an incredible mill. Assembly was made easy by the step by step illustrated instructions and all pieces fit together well. We really enjoy using the new saw mill we have already milled and constructed a timberframe shelter for the mill . the only con to this mill is the scale crank I find it a bit difficult to use when it is higher up as when starting a new log it is easy to crank down but not so much going up other wise it is awesome

A great sawmill. Runs well and cuts smoothly with virtually no effort. I bought this sawmill to make large bowls blanks for wood turning. This mill exceeded my expectations. To date have cut up 24 trees oak, maple, pine it works awesome no issues, the company has been great dealing with I would recommend them to anyone, I have a skid steer to load logs with and have cut up to a 23 inch log with it had to use skid steer to rotate log but I expected that, heavy logs do tend to make mill unlevel till it gets settled in when you set up. my only regret is not buying the bigger one. Bottom line AWESOME!!!!

I love this mill. The trailer makes it super convenient to take the mill to larger logs. I don’t have large equipment to haul logs so being able to have a mobile mill is key. My only criticism would be they should streamline the log clamps and change to the same ones the HM126 and 130 have.

Meeks hm122 review
I am extremely happy with the entry grade sawmill I purchased this winter .we also bought the pm14 some time age when my logs are to large for my band mill I square them with my chainsaw mill they are a perfect fit. The folks at port Perry are extremely helpful and I would like to express my appreciation to them but I think I cannot return there as they have so many tools there I want to buy ie the wood chipper hint I may be back for that again thankyou

I have had no bad experiences with my bushlander xl except that my log meters look a little bit different than the older ones I see online. I was not made aware of any changes to the newer models log scales. Other than that it has been excellent as well as all the service 👌

Bushlander Review
I have enjoyed using this mill. For what it is it does a great job. As my first mill I am glad I purchased it as the learning with a not mechanized feed really gives you a good sense of the machine. In regards to the assembly I do not think I have ever purchased anything that required assembly that had instruction as understandable as these. It has been an all around great experience. The mill obviously was designed by some folks with great engineering skills and attention to detail. Eventually I will buy a second bigger woodland mill but would not sell the Bushlander because I bought it for remote hard access milling where it excels.

Hours of fun
I love my HM122 Bushlander. I was somewhat trepidation when Fedex Freight unloaded my packages - they had obviously suffered rather severe abuse, and metal crating was bent, some welds were broken, etc. But to Woodland's credit, the mill itself was unscathed, except for a cosmetic dent on the lube tank. I spent much of the winter sawing 16' structural lumber from spruce. The mill worked perfectly, starting easily even when below zero F. I'm glad I got the 9.5 HP option. Hint - use a torque wrench to tighten the blade (24 ftlbs) - forget trying to judge "snug";-)

HM122 Bushlander
The HM122 sawmill paired with the bushlander trailer is an all around great portable sawmill. Everything has been working like it should and holding up as I would hope to expect. The mill was missing a small bolt but after reaching out to customer service the quickly helped me out and sent me the missing bolt. Overall great build quality and awesome customer service.

I'm working on cleaning up about 5 acres or white ceader that was flattened by a wind sheer. I purchased a Hm 122 and I am very happy with the mill I purchased. The atv tires are a great idea they allow me to pull the mill through some petty mucky stuff and uneven ground. I up graded to the 10 HP motor that has worked great. I also purchased the add on to accommodate 16 foot logs. The mill has exceeded my expectations. Now my only problem is what am I to do with all this wood.

Very poor leveling
I would not recommend the trailer. The first time leveling trailer a jack mount bent on level garage floor, second time leveling out side the rear jack mount bent kicked the out sending jack dangerous down.(Aready removed wheels). Sent a few emails to woodlands mills they did send me replacement parts. Those brackets the bent were built the same as the old ones. Email woodland mills the send they sent my info off to head people believe that was away to get me off there case.Since then I have been working with a welder and design person to make trailer safe and usable. Also the trailer extension flip peace is to heavy for one person to handle again an other unsafe feature. When I look back of what it cost for the trailer I could of had trailer built better and easier to use.Espicaliy after the added cost of modification I had to make. I would really liked to have full refund on bushlander trailer.Hope this helps

Hm122 bushlander
After buying a large property with a lot of outside projects pricing all the wood up that I would require looked very expensive,I had a lot of trees that needed thinning out so buying the mill and getting all the wood I could ever need for the cost of a bit of gas and a few blades made perfect sense, only just started milling and it’s so easy looking forward to spring to get on with it The bushlander makes it easy because instead of dragging all the log to the mill I just move the mill to the logs saves so much time and so much easier If you are considering buying a mill woodland mills are perfect ,reasonably priced and easy to set up and get going 10 out of 10

HM bushlander with trailer
It took me some time to assemble but it was well worth it! I have been cutting smooth and consistant planks. With the exception of the minor damage to the engine cover during shipping, (pictured, i've been meaning to contact customer service about replacing it..), I received everything right to the job site and has been working in perfect order. I found using long straight timbers make leveling the feet extensions much quicker but for a mobile unit, the cost to efficiency could not be better. I'd like to see more jack points especially with the extension, but I'm getting by fine. I'm interested in some other products from the woodland catalog to invest in and I would trust the quality after using this equipment. Thank you especially customer service for your help when I called, the fact that I could not find the manual is on me..it was right where it was supposed to be. 😁

Great entry-level saw mill
Assembly is not bad if you take your time and pay attention to what you’re doing. The mill is not complicated to use, and there are a lot of helpful videos and articles available to answer any questions you have. I am enjoying my new hobby and would highly recommend the HM122 to anyone considering a saw mill. I did quite a bit of research before making my decision, and I’m well satisfied with my choice. I also have had nothing but positive experiences with the Woodland’s sales and tech support.

Great little mill at this price point.
Overall I’m very happy with the performance of this little sawmill. It’s very well engineered for such an affordable mill and handles soft and hardwood handily sawing very smooth, even material. I’m definitely glad I opted for the 9.5 engine-I think the smaller option could be a bit underpowered. My only real issue is the lack of heft in the track/frame; if I’m milling larger logs I need to re-level it quite a bit due to its flexibility. The winch and ramps work very well for most logs but we’re maxed out with a 20”x10’ oak log.

Unlimited Lumber
Good morning and thank you for the opportunity to update you on my mill. I purchased the mill To build a future cabin on our trap line the opportunity to do this has not happened yet although I have used my mill for a couple small projects. I cut boards to build some Martin Nesting boxes , I have cut enough boards to make over 100 nesting boxes with kids camp and other individuals ,these enhance Wild life encourage conservation in the forest. The mill was quite easy to assemble I did it over a two day. Instructions and the parts layout is top notch. I have not had the opportunity to get into any high production with my meal but I assisted the fellow trapper with his mill in construction of his new trapline cabin and it was very easy to use I am looking forward to getting set up next spring to build my own. Overall I am absolutely happy with my purchase it is going to be a definite asset for me

Great hobby mill
This is a great little hobby mill and the build quality is excellent. We’ve milled enough lumber to build 2 small buildings on our homestead. After calculating the cost of the lumber at Home Depot we see that the next couple of larger projects we have planned will come close to paying back the purchase price! There’s a learning curve to start getting decent lumber but there’s a ton of info out there to research. I wouldn’t think twice about recommending this mill to a friend. What an awesome addition to our homestead equipment!

HM122 Bushlander
From receiving, right up to cutting my first log, Woodland Mills was right there for me! The few technical issue that I had were dealt with on the same day and corrected. Fantastic service! Now, for the HM122 Bushlander. I purchased it with the small engine and I have no regrets. It has done everything I've asked of it. It seems I don't get enough time in my life to get out there and use it enough until you look over at the pile of lumber you've milled and realize just how easy and.pleasureable the experience has been.

I love my mill… now. There is a learning curve but it was fun. The support team is great. I will give a little advice and that is do not tighten the bolts on the mill head until the mill is on the tracks. I then started it and it vibrated into place and was perfect.

I am extremely happy with
I am extremely happy with my purchase of the Woodland Mills (WM) HM122 two years ago and have not regretted it. The performance of this model is more than I expected. I have been cutting a lot of white oak, walnut and silver maple. All cut like butter. Having purchased the blade sharper shortly after purchasing the mill, I have more than paid for the sharpener. It is true, blades can be sharpened up to 5 times before they finally give out. Do the math on resharpening blades vs not sharpening and it's a no brainer. I am very glad I went with WM, best hobby mill ever!!! Thanks again for the great product, looking forward to purchasing another WM product, maybe the Multilander!!

After a spring storm took
After a spring storm took down 16 trees, I struggled to mill them with a chainsaw mill, until the saw died. Enter Woodland Mills HM122 Bushlander. I never thought I could get a quality saw mill for less than $4000, let alone something that handles 10.5 foot logs at 22 inch diameter. While this is small compared to many mills, that's all I need as a hobbiest woodworker with access to some logs. My only problem with this tool is that I now struggle find a place to put everything I mill!

Easy enough to assemble solo
Easy enough to assemble solo in a day (with a chain hoist for the cutting head) and rugged enough to pull around the bumpy landscape of our east-Ontario cabin property. The HM122 cuts a treat, but mind you tighten the grub screw on the blade guard lest it fall out and you wreck a blade hitting the log holders!

Overall I am quite satisfied.
Overall I am quite satisfied. I am still learning and have managed to throw a couple of blades. By removing log stops and using wedges I have also managed to saw logs beyond the diameter the mill is rated for. This is not something I would recommend but It can be done. I have somehow lost a few set screws that hold the blade guard. They seem to shake loose.

Overall this is a good
Overall this is a good mill for property owners that need to be able to move the mill over rough terrain to multiple locations around their property. We have about 20 hours on ours now and are substantially increasing these hours now. It is best suited for fairly level terrain as the power head is very heavy and the wheel base is not very wide making it top heavy. If you have the added track extension it only amplifies this issue. Goes directly against the overall "off-road" capabilities which was the original need. We have a few hundred acres and our terrain is very rocky and unlevel in most areas making it difficult to move the mill around easily. My biggest complaints are with the added ramp and winch system which are cheap, poorly designed and outright dangerous. The winch itself is very tricky to get in correct gear and often pops loose. This has injured my wife as the winch arm smacked her very hard and almost sent a log down op top of me. This has happened on several occasions and is by far the most dangerous thing about the mill. A large log can weigh hundreds of pounds and come sailing right back down the ramp under the right scenario due to the shifty-junk winch. The ramps do not have large enough anti-slip knobs on them, this causes the logs to slip or tilt sideways on the ramps frequently. You must either lower the log all the way back down or risk adjusting it while on the ramps. Attempting to adjust can cause the winch to pop loose, now you are under the log... The biggest issue is the ramp and winch system must be taken on and off for every log. You pay extra money for a bigger faster cutting mill only to lose huge amounts of time and efficiency lugging the winch and ramps off and on TWICE for every log. (The mill will not cut with the ramps or winch on as they both block the track on either side.) For over $600 the ramp system should be far safer and user friendly. You will find yourself fidgeting with the winch as well as spending more time putting the ramps/winch on and off more than anything you do with this mill ( which requires you to walk all the way around the mill each time you do so, as they are on opposite sides of mill, its very frustrating and slow no matter how fast you work!) These are fairly simple design flaws that Woodland mills certainly knows about yet chooses to leave them be, sacrificing the overall speed, saftey and performance of what would otherwise be a great mill. I would recommend this mill to those with pretty level terrain that would like to move it around their property. I would not recommend for true ATV conditions unless again on pretty level ground, which really negates the ATV aspect. Overall, I'd recommend a standard trailer version, not the woodlander option for this reason. At least you could pull it on roadways, while the Woodlander you cannot. The ramp and winch and system are convenient (albeit expensive) to add on when ordering, however, I would strongly suggest finding another aftermarket option to protect yourself and speed up your milling.

HM122 Bushlander and Extension Bed
HM122 Bushlander and Extension Bed The unit comes well packaged and fit into my 5'x8' utility trailer. The folks at Head Office used a fork truck and lifting straps to drop it into the trailer. Nicely done. Assembly went well. The instruction book was well written and there weren't many whoops! The parts fit together well. There were some leftover parts - these were required on the non trailer model. The unit was pulled behind a 500 cc ATV. No issues. Just go slow over bumpy terrain. The 9.5 hp motor starts easily, runs well, and is very reliable - 20 hours of operation so far. I have cut full size pine logs - enough to build a complete 10'x16'x8' workshop including floor frame, floor, stick frame, siding, and peak roof. The logs were often oversize for the 22" width and required some interesting notching allow the machine to cut the full length. Largest square timber was 16"x16"x16' long. It was a thing of beauty. I made 1" x 16" for the shed floor. All wood was cut green. Leveling the bed on this model is tough. The 16' length with hinge in the middle gives lots of opportunity to mis-align the two rails. The rails are not that strong on this model (compared to the larger units). Adjustment of the feet is really important. Laser levels and strings are necessary to get the rails flat and square. All my logs were big - 16" to 23" diameter with an 8' length short. The logs were green and really heavy. The crank and rail device used to roll the logs onto the bed works very well. The log cant/peavey is a must have to roll the logs when squaring them up. On the second, third and fourth 90 degree turn, the previously cut flat really hits the bed hard as it turns past 45 degrees. This impact is transferred through the bed to the feet and then into the ground. If the ground is soft (muddy/sand/etc), then that impact is likely to create mis-alignment and dips in the be since the feet are now pounded into the ground unevenly. Talking to the techs, they suggest using 2x8's or similar pads screwed into the pads on the adjustable feet to spread the load. Setting up the saw blade to track properly required a couple calls to the tech support folks. They were great to work with. My machine came with a label saying "don't touch this - factory adjusted". I understand that this label has been removed on newer models. The first boards I cut were suprisingly easy and fast. It took some learning to get in the groove with respect to pushing the saw along the bed. The saw blades worked well on the green pine. The lubrication system for the blade was well thought out. Just a slow drip was all that was required. I did all my work on an island, and had no tractor with forks to pick up and drag logs. Getting to the logs was tough as they were knocked down all over the island from last May's derecho in Eastern Ontario. I dragged the logs across the ground using my ATV winch. I have since purchased a log arch and saw that Woodland Mills has there own design now. Having a tractor with forks would save so much time. Lots of dirt on the bark from dragging the logs through the bush. I had restrictions on where I put the mill - lots of hilly slopes on our island so couldn't move the mill to the logs. Do find a way to get that dirt off if you can using heavy brooms and garden hose spray if available. MIlling logs creates a lot of sawdust and slabs. Have a plan to get rid of that material. I used tarps on the ground to collect sawdust, and cut the slabs into lengths for campfire wood. My first summer of cutting went well. I love the product, and feel way more qualified to do a better job this coming summer. The folks at Woodland Mills were very helpful and friendly. I recommend the HM122 Bushmaster with extension.

After six months of owning
After six months of owning and using my HM122 , I am thoroughly happy with the product. It has performed above my expectations cutting both hard and softwood to precise dimensions. There is a learning curve as with any type of equipment, but this was very quick and easy. The Bushwacker trailer option is a great option to make this truly portable. I load it into a 10 x 5 utility trailer for transport over the road. For a home owner looking to " get some exercise" and create their own lumber while saving money, this mill is hard to beat.
